Director Software R&D to Tobii Tech

To be a part of this quest you need to be a creative and caring leader. As the Director Software R&D you will head up our Software Development department at Tobii tech, and support your team to perform at their maximum. 

The role and responsibilities

In this position, you will lead a team of 4 Team Managers and 50+ skilled and driven developers at our Stockholm office. You will work 100% as a manager, be responsible for your team, for the budget and for the software development strategy for our products.

You will also be a part of the cooperative R&D Software management team together with other department Directors, ensuring that the strategy for Tobii Tech Software R&D is aligned with the latest technology and ways of working.

Your days will be filled with

  • Advise and coordinate the company's technical strategy and delivery across an established and productive organization
  • Cooperate with Product Management and Program Management to build compelling products on schedule
  • Develop, nurture and share the software engineering vision to ensure that the software development organization and the company and product vision is aligned, and inspire and motivate your team to be a part of realizing it.
  • Conduct performance reviews, calibration sessions and feedback discussions. Perform competency assessments across the teams, and implement and monitor development plans with direct reports.
  • Coach the Agile teams to perform and improve.
  • Set, and communicate, clear objectives for your organization by ensuring an inclusive and collaborative work environment across teams.
  • Recruit and retain top tier engineers, hire and mentor technical leaders, and provide career development and professional growth for our talented engineers and managers
  • Ensure the organization is agile, dynamic and adaptable. Root out problems and inefficiencies, and support your teams with the tools they need to become unstoppable.
  • Refine engineering processes, and encourage and enforce the right behaviors to ensure we continue to ship quickly without compromising production stability and quality.

  • At some stage in your career, you have been working as a developer with consumer-driven products.
